Areas of Focus

Mattie is a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Northern Arizona University. Coming from Flagstaff, AZ and now settled in Eugene, she is passionate about providing support, tools, and empathic listening to others.

she has 2 years of graduate school training in counseling and 6 years of experience working in various roles with diverse individuals and groups to facilitate wellness and growth as a career counselor, educator, researcher, and hospital volunteer.

Her passion is connecting with others – she believes that a positive therapeutic relationship is essential to creating a non-judgmental, supportive, and empathetic environment in which challenges and strengths as well as values and goals and can be explored and worked through. She views counseling as a collaborative partnership between client and therapist and endeavors to understand each person’s unique context, culture, and relationships with self and others. She utilizes a multi-disciplinary, strength-based, and client-centered approach and strive to meet the unique needs of every person I encounter as an empathetic listener and gentle and warm facilitator of new perspectives, self-awareness, and growth and healing.

Outside of the office, she enjoys reading and crocheting, listening to music, spending quiet time in nature as well as time with loved ones and her cat, and trying new types of coffee and tea.
