Start a Gratitude Journal

Struggling with anxiety and still haven’t found a way to work with it?

Try writing in a gratitude journal! It’s a great way to boost your mood and reminds you to be thankful for wherever you may be in your life. Studies have shown that there are positive benefits associated with recognizing and jotting down what you’re thankful for. Plus, it’s easy! Every night take a moment to yourself to think about all the things you’re grateful for, even the little things. You could be thankful for eating your favorite breakfast or even spending time with your loved ones. It could be anything because it’s what YOU’RE thankful for.

There are two caveats to consider:
(1) If you’re struggling with coming up with something to be thankful for, it’s usually an indication you’re looking too big. Consider looking for very small, measurable things. (It’s the simple things).
(2) In writing your gratitude list, be sure to avoid the ‘Yeah buts’; meaning take your focus off of what’s ‘wrong’ and onto what’s ‘right’.
